FreePi (free-pi)
Free, ad-supported terminal coding agent built on Mario Zechner's Pi agent harness. Run npx free-pi-cli, sign in with GitHub (device code), and code against a daily free allowance; default model DeepSeek V4 Flash. The makers call it an early experiment. Ads pay for compute, and your sessions may be used to train models.

Caveat: Read before using: free-pi is paid for by terminal ads and by training on your sessions. Its consent terms say prompts, code, files and model responses are saved as traces, used to train models and may be shared or sold to third parties, with no opt-out after you accept (except where the law gives one); a third-party ad provider (Gravity) receives excerpts of your recent conversation to pick ads. Don't use it on secrets or code you aren't allowed to share. The makers call it an early experiment (alpha, no warranty or uptime guarantee). source

Environment: free-pi-cli 0.4.7 on Linux, Node v22.23.3, isolated HOME, auto-update off.
Command: free-pi-cli --version; free-pi-cli --help
Smoke check only: the CLI installs from npm, runs on Node 22 (refuses Node 20 with a clear message) and prints version 0.4.7 and its help text. The fixed tasks were not run because a session needs a GitHub sign-in and accepting terms that let free-pi train on session traces. Hands-on test pending; no score yet.
